Sale of WSR Recycling to Panda, part of Beauparc Group

Deal Summary

Advised Nick Prescott, founder of WSR Recycling Ltd on its sale to Panda, part of the Beauparc Group, the largest waste management business in the Republic of Ireland. The acquisition forms part of Panda’s strategic growth plans to expand its geographical footprint outside Ireland and within the UK.

WSR is an independent, family-owned business providing a wide range of waste management services including material recycling, treatment, logistics and disposal solutions to a range of business customers and local authorities across Greater Merseyside, Cheshire and Greater Manchester. Based in Widnes, WSR had grown significantly over the previous three years following a major investment programme and generated revenues of c. £14 million at the time of sale.

Established in 1990, Beauparc Group has focused on building its operations in the UK to complement its dominant position in Ireland and now employs over 2,300 employees. In 2016, it acquired Ireland’s second large waste company, Greenstar and generated revenues above €362m in 2018. It was owned by entrepreneur Eamon Waters who brought in Blackstone private equity group as an investor before selling to infrastructure asset manager Macquarie in 2021 .
